Document360 | Building a flagship awards programme for technical writers

Technical writers had no industry-wide awards to point to, and Document360 wanted to create the first. The risk was obvious: an award launched by a software company can easily read as a product campaign. The identity had to make the Global Writers Awards feel like the industry’s own event, credible enough for a jury of eight industry experts and exciting enough for writers to nominate their peers.

The logo is built from bold type and modular geometric shapes, a nod to how good documentation is itself built from structured blocks. Document360’s purple ties it to the host brand, while gradients, dimensional forms and abstract geometry give it the energy of a celebration. We designed the system to stretch across five phases, from pre-launch and nominations to evaluation, public voting and winners, so each stage could look distinct while clearly belonging to the same awards.

The identity carried nomination pushes, jury reveals, voting reminders and winner spotlights across social, email and event assets. The first edition drew 215 nominations, 405 sign-ups and more than 140,000 public votes. The awards were built to return every year, and the identity gives Document360 a stage it can bring back with every edition.
